CHED RO5, CBSUA CONVENE REG’L HEIs FOR CODI CAPACITY-BUILDING

The Commission on Higher Education (CHED) Regional Office 5 and the Central Bicol State University of Agriculture (CBSUA) Regional Gender and Development Resource Center (RGADRC) recently collaborated to host the Regional Capacity-Building Forum for the Committee on Decorum and Investigation (CODI). The event brought together representatives from various higher education institutions (HEIs) across the Bicol region on October 20, 2025, at the New Blossoms Function Hall in Tagas, Daraga, Albay.

The forum saw the participation of nearly 200 attendees, including Gender and Development (GAD) focals, CODI chairpersons and members, as well as technical and administrative staff from CHED Regional Office 5. The program highlighted crucial discussions, featuring Atty. Deonalaine Ivy P. Figura, Legal Officer of CBSUA, who spoke on “Capacitating the HEI CODI.” This was followed by a presentation from Dr. Delma Jean V. Abad, Director of the Center for Equity, Inclusivity and Diversity at Camarines Norte State College (CNSC), on “Gender Mainstreaming in Higher Education.”

Serving as a key platform, the forum enabled GAD focals and CODI representatives to articulate their queries, share their experiences, and exchange thoughts regarding the implementation of GAD programs and the Safe Spaces Act. The collaborative engagement successfully aimed to enhance the operational readiness and capacity of CODI committees throughout Bicol’s HEIs. |𝘗𝘩𝘰𝘵𝘰𝘴 𝘧𝘳𝘰𝘮 𝘊𝘉𝘚𝘜𝘈 𝘙𝘎𝘈𝘋𝘙𝘊
