The Central Bicol State University of Agriculture (CBSUA) was invited to participate in a consultative meeting for the Naga Upland Green Canopy & Livelihood Program on February 13, 2026, spearheaded by the City Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO) of Naga City. This innovative initiative aims to integrate large-scale reforestation with strategic agroforestry practices to restore upland ecosystems while creating sustainable livelihood opportunities for local communities.
Representing CBSUA were Dr. Dariel A. Palmiano, Vice President for Research and Innovation; Abigail V. Guinoo, Director of the Extension Services Division; Melchora V. Abonal, Director of the Vetiver Center; and Jean Dalagan Magbalot, Chairperson of the BSAF Program. The consultative meeting also gathered key stakeholders from DOST, DENR, Department of Agriculture, DAR Camarines Sur, and MNWD, fostering collaborative discussions on how best to implement the program for maximum ecological and socio-economic impact.
The initiative aligns with the vision of Mayor Leni Robredo for a cleaner, greener, and flood-resilient Naga City, emphasizing the importance of environmental stewardship coupled with livelihood development.
