History of CBSUA Main Library

The present library building of the Main Campus was completed on February 23, 1983 with a project cost of P1,750,000.00 was funded by the USAID through  the administration of President Alvaro R. Rabina, the First President of then CSSAC. The Main Library has a total area of 528 square meters strategically located at the heart of the main campus. It houses an extensive collection of print andnon-print materials for the undergraduate and graduate studies.

The main campus library has various sections thatwill cater to the informational needs of the clients, such sections are:general circulation, general reference, filipiniana, theses/dissertation,serials, reserve, archives and audio-visual.

Additional section in the Main Library is theE-Learning Center which contains computers with internet connection andprovides printing and CD burning; this is under the Office of the Informationand Communications Technology.

On October 12, 2009 the former state college namedCamarines Sur State Agricultural College has gained its university hood throughthe power of RA 9717 under its new name, Central Bicol State University ofAgriculture (CBSUA) under the administration of the first president of CBSUA,Atty. Marito T. Bernales, Ph.D. With this development the University Library iseven more committed in providing a wide scope of information sources like themaintenance of the e Learning Center for the global accessibility toinformation of the stakeholders of the university.

The CBSUA Main Library is now in the automationstage through a state of the art library system. With this development the major function of the library such as; acquisition, cataloging, circulation,and On-Line Public Access Catalog (OPAC) is now in place for quick and easy management of the collection/holdings and other services of the library.
