Sabpanya Bilingual School, CBSUA collaborates for International Student Internship

The Central Bicol State University of Agriculture-College of Development Education(CDE) and the Sabpanya Bilingual School collaborated to offer Student’s Internship Abroad Program (SIAP) for selected CDE students which will run on the second semester Off-Campus Program by the College on December 2017.

 

  A Program Inception on International Student’s Internship was staged on October 17, 2017 which featured Rayvan Ho, Founder and Executive Director of the AEDNO Learning Studio (Academic Excellence Driven by Innovation), Singapore; coordinating with the host school, Sabpanya Bilingual School, Vientiane, Laos. He introduced the Sabpanya Bilingual School where the qualified  students of the University will take their internship as a private school founded in 2009 which offers Elementary and High School curricular programs. It is also a trimester-term school that starts from September and closes on May. The School offers learning programs in languages of Thai, Lao, English, and Chinese.


  The program inception included a round table discussion which tackled questions on the roles of future student interns in the Sabpanya Bilingual School, possible teacher exchange and immersion ,learning objectives of the school, subjects being taught by foreign teachers, mechanics of student intern evaluation, student assistance programs and the span of the internship program. Mr. Rayvan Ho answered the questions explaining that interns will serve as Assistants for Senior Teachers where they would perform debriefing for the students after discussion. The Interns will be evaluated through Phase 1- Learning from Senior teachers, Phase 2- Monitoring, and Phase 3- Evaluation which will include our University Off-Campus Supervisors. Interns are expected to spend 3 months in the school for their internship and that foreign teachers usually teach English, Mathematics and Science subjects. He also stressed that the schools aims to enhance language proficiency of its students as well as uplift academic and non-academic achievements through thorough teaching with the help of international-based learning system that leans to the system of the University of Cambridge. The school also offers student assistance by partnering with different agencies which offers scholarships and tuition programs.

 

  “We want the students of the future to be self-directed, sufficient and innovative. We, ourselves are continuously growing as we intend to widen the span of our curricular capability by offering College programs hopefully by 2020. We are evaluating what could make our students and teachers grow, one sure step at a time,” Mr. Ho emphasized during the round table discussion.


  The College of Development Education (CDE) will be deploying 4 interns who have undergone qualifying selection and interviews. They will be provided free accommodation and meals, and will also be given a stipend from the AEDNO of 100-200 USD per month.

 

 The inception program was participated in by Engr. Mira?a, Dean of the College of Development Education; Margarita Delos Santos, Secondary Education Program Chairperson; Prof. Evangeline S.Huerno, Elementary Education Program Chairperson, Dr. Rowena Bayrante, Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences; Prof. Presbel B. Presto, Public Information Officer, representatives from other Campuses and faculty members of CDE.
