Howest And Vives Collaborates with CBSUA for Project Synergy

Belgian visitors accompanied by CBSUA faculty visited the Bicol Federation of Dairy Cooperatives(Dairy Plant) in San Jose, Pili, Camarines Sur

Four (4) representatives from Howest University and four (4) from Vives University visited Central BicolState University of Agriculture for an Orientation and International collaborative meeting with Belgian NGOs together with CBSUA on December 8-9,2017 at the Ecotel.

The meeting aims to further develop a collaborative research and development agenda that would respond to climate change adaptation and mitigation for local government units and to sustain human development and to strengthen the engagement of Belgians to Filipino people through the “Project SYNERGY” with the initiatives of TRIAS and other Belgian NGOs. The project hopes to target issues on Sustainable Agriculture, Climate Change Resiliency, and Entrepreneurship.

Through the project, the University wishes to seek further assistance to Research and Extension collaborations on the field of Agriculture, Entrepreneurship and Business Management, Engineering, and Biotechnology & ICT and also a proposal for Faculty and Student Exchange Programs and Internship Programs abroad.

The Howest and Vives faculty are composed of Jurgen Ceuppens, Herman Kiesel, Bert Leenknegt, Corneel Theben Terville, Annelies Kempinck, Geert Furniere, Anne-Marie Berghman, Isabelle Degezelle. Present during the program were Dr.Georgina J. Bordado, University President; Engr. Rolando G. De Asis, VPAA; Dr. Charlito P. Cadag, Dean, Graduate School; Prof. Arthur B. Estrella, Director for Research; Dr. Celerino B. Llesol, Jr, Director for Extension; Prof. Vladimir R. Foronda, ICT Director; Dr. Yolanda S. Agawa, Director RCDRRM/CCA; Dr. Lorena F. Hernandez, Directress for OADP; Prof. Ligaya Tango, Coordinator AgroMet; Prof.Charlie Nacario, Planning Director; Prof. Presbel Presto, Public Information Officer; and some faculty-researchers namely Engr. Glaiza Visitacion, Engr.Cherryflor Balingasa, Prof. Mae SA. Lustre, Prof. Sonny R. Corporal and Mr. Edmundo Casaul; Mr. Elvie Gayosa, Project Officer, Trias; and other representatives of different stakeholders in South Luzon.

Belgian representatives were toured around the campus specifically and had the firsthand experience of sampling product from OADP’s garden and Food Laboratory.The following day, they visited the Bicol Federation of Dairy Cooperatives(Dairy Plant), PAGASA AgroMet Station and Pecuaria Farms in Bula, Camarines Sur.
