CBSUA Pasacao Holds Its 16th Commencement Exercises

The Central Bicol State University of Agriculture (CBSUA)-Pasacao Campus held its 16th Commencement Exercises at 4 o’clock in the afternoon of April 21, 2018, at the Pasacao Campus Quadrangle. With its theme: “Graduates for Change: Empowered for Socio-Economic Transformation,” Mr. Carlo M. Cornejo, Dean of the College of Development Education of the said campus, presented the awardees and candidates of the graduating class to Dr. Georgina J. Bordado, University President.

Mr. Roger Leo A. Cariño, Executive Director of the UT Global Services Limited, served as their Graduation Guest of Honor and Speaker. The speaker is a native of Camaligan, Camarines Sur and a son of a public school teacher, a former classmate and one of the closest friends of Pasacao Campus Administrator Melquiades Pana during their college days in Ateneo de Naga.

Like any other student who experienced difficult times, Mr. Roger Leo A. Cariño had stood the test of time. During his college days, he had to work hard while studying to support his matriculation fees for college because he is not from a well-off family. Later, he managed to succeed and eventually finished his college as the class valedictorian with the degree of Bachelor of Science in Business Administration major in Accounting and at the same year passed the Certified Public Account (CPA) Licensure Exam. He also obtained his Masters in Business Administration in one of the best universities in Australia, and now working to be one of the richest business tycoons in Malaysia as a financial consultant.

The speaker always embraced challenges and convert threats into opportunities. In his speech, the speaker said “Nobody likes to fail, but failure is an essential part of life and learning. If your uniform isn’t dirty, you haven’t been in the game.”  He further noted that failure does not necessarily mean giving up the best in life, but pursuing the best choice and finally achieving one's goals and dreams.

The speaker was chosen as the 16th Commencement Guest of Honor because he is a regular benefactor of the CBSUA-Pasacao campus. He had done numerous projects such as the landscaping and beautification of the Pasacao Campus ground, the tiling of the room floors, furnishing of the old administration building including the fences and gates of the campus.
