DA turns over new facility, CBSUA in charge of operation

Department of Agriculture- Bureau of Soils and Water Management (DA-BSWM) entrusts Central Bicol State University of Agriculture the Solar- Powered Irrigation System (Submersible Pump) at Organic Agriculture Development Program (OADP) on 11 June 2019.

DA Representative, Mr. Joel Doroja, handover to University President, Dr. Alberto N. Naperi the facility and its full operation, care, and maintenance. With the Department of Agriculture’s BSWM mandated function of promoting the conservation and proper utilization of the soil and water resources of the country and its program providing support to small farmers to attain sustainable productivity and profitable farming, the CBSUA has been a constant partner in delivering services through the programs,facilities and equipment. In its commitment to the promotion of Organic Agriculture serving as learning center for students, the university requested the said Solar Powered Irrigation System and BSWM grants it through the National Organic Agriculture Program (NOAP) FY 2018.

Partnership between BSWM and CBSUA transpires as the former provided the pump and prime movers (solar module, wind mill, ram pump) using renewable energy sources and storage tank and the latter served asthe site and the operator of the said facility.

“This facility would make our farming richer,plants will be nourished as water is more abundant in this side of the university. This project shall be a means for our university to be visited by more and more students and guests. I hope that our students would know about this,” said Dr. Naperi.
