University DRRM Office to Sponsor Awareness Campaign and Drills

Executive Order No. 29 dated 28 June 2017 designates July as Disaster Resilience Month causing the shifting of the observance from disaster awareness to disaster resilience-building. This year’s National Disaster Resilience Month (NDRM)theme is “Kahandaan sa Sakuna’t Peligro Para sa Tunay Na Pagbabago” which calls for action for all stakeholders in the university to practice disaster riskreduction activities and to promote public awareness the prevention and mitigation, disaster preparedness, disaster response, and disaster rehabilitation and recovery.

The Central Bicol State University of Agriculture- Pili Campus experienced a number of fire incidences in the past five years. One of which was the fire incident at the University Training Center. Such unexpected event raised vulnerability to hazards and potential disaster.

In order to minimize casualties and damage to university properties as per CMO No.09, s.2013, regular fire drill and earthquake evacuation drill should be conducted.

As such the Regional Center for Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (DRRM) & Climate Change Adaptation (CCA) joins the annual observance of the National Disaster Risk Management is conducting Orientation Seminar for Fire and Earthquake Hazards and Evacuation on  22 July 2019 (9:00am to 12:00nn), Fire Evacuation Drill on 23 July 2019 at 10:00 am and Earthquake Drill on 25 July 2019, 2:00 pm.

The expected persons involved are the Building Occupants of Administration Building, OSAS, Auditorium, Research Division Building, Training Center,Quality Assurance, Production Building, Alumni Office, Canteen-Ecotel, Library,DNAS (MPS) Building, Soils Building, CANR (old) Building, and CANR (new) Building.(DJDBarretto)
