For more than three decades, she has been deeply involved in the fields of instruction, research, and extension. Her career path has inextricably intertwined with the evolution of her old school into what itis now -- the only state university of agriculture in the Bicol region -- and has culminated in her selection as its first ever female president.

In 1972, she was the valedictorian of the laboratory high school of what used to be the Camarines Sur National Agricultural School (CSNAS), later upgraded to Camarines Sur State Agricultural College (CSSAC). After graduating with the degree of Bachelor of Science in Agriculture (Major in Agricultural Economics) at the University of the Philippines at Los Baños (UPLB) in 1977, she opted to return to her Alma Mater,occupying various posts, to wit: secondary school teacher, college instructor,college professor, chairperson of the Agricultural Economics Department, dean of the College of Economics and Management, assistant director for research,research director, and consortium director of the Bicol Consortium for Agriculture and Resources Research and Development (BCARRD).  She earned her Master of Science In Agricultural Economics degree at UPLB in 1984 through a PCARRD Graduate Scholarship and an International Rice Research Institute (IRRI) Research Scholarship. She embarked on her doctoral studies in Agricultural Economics in2005 at the UPLB,  In 2009, she decided to focus on an allied area of specialization and finished her Doctor of Business Management degree at the University of Northeastern Philippines.

Drawing from her vast administrative experience,she ably managed the BCARRD Secretariat for five years starting in 1999. The consortium was composed of 16 member agencies: the Department of Agriculture Regional Field Unit 5 (DA-RFU 5), the Department of Agriculture-Bureau of Agricultural Research (DA-BAR), the Department of Science and Technology(DOST), the Fiber Industry Development Authority (FIDA), the National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA), the Department of Environment and Natural Resources-Ecosystems Research and Development Service (DENR-ERDS), the Department of Environment and Natural Resources-Ecosystems Research and Development Bureau (DENR-ERDB),  the Philippine Coconut Authority-Albay Research Center (PCA-ARC), the Bicol University (BU), the Catanduanes State Colleges (CSC), the Partido State University (PSU), the Sorsogon State College (SSC), the Camarines Norte State College (CNSC), the Dr. Emilio B. Espinosa Sr. Memorial College of Agriculture and Technology (DEBESMCAT), the Philippine Council for Agriculture, Forestry and Natural Resources Research and Development (PCARRD) and the Camarines Sur State Agricultural College (CSSAC). At the end of her term as consortium director, she received an award recognizing her exemplary leadership abilities.

In her constant pursuit of innovative initiatives, she facilitated the establishment of the Bachelor of Science in Agri-ecotourism Management (BSAETM) course (which combines the potentials of two major and sustainable industries: agriculture and tourism) – the first of its kind in the Philippines. On the other hand, her academic skills and competence have been acknowledged even at the international level, earning for her teaching stints at the prestigious University of Northern Iowa in the United States of America and the Dalian Nationalities University in the People’s Republic of China.

In the field of research, she had conducted numerous socioeconomics studies funded by local, national and international agencies. Her continuing extension activities have brought her in close contact with micro-entrepreneurs, women’s groups, marginalized farmers and fishermen.  Moreover, she constantly links up with national and local government agencies, non-government organizations, and international entities to further strengthen and expand CBSUA’s sphere of influence and competence.

The eldest daughter of former Philippine Constabulary 2nd Lieutenant Ireneo Gallarte Junsay and retired elementary public schoolteacher Amparo Grecia Florida, she is married to Gabriel H. Bordado Jr., city councilor and former vice mayor of Naga City. They have three children, viz: Marian Gabrielle, George Gabriel VII, and Elizabeth Ann.
