The Central Bicol State University of Agriculture-Calabanga partnered with the Local Government of Calabanga (LGU) and the Our Lady of La Porteria Parish to celebrate the vibrant 276th Calabanga Town Fiesta on September 1-8, 2025.
During the festivities, CBSUA secured 5th place in the Electric Float Competition as part of the Electric Light Parade. The CBSUA Electric Float, designed by OCA Secretary Ms. Jimma Bosangit alongside the Pintados artists, student volunteers, SSC, and the NTEA President Mr. Wilfredo Subang, was a spectacular sight. Participants in the Electric Light Parade were the CBSUA Marching Band and Majorettes, selected ROTC members, the Pintados, the CBSUA Calabanga Choral, SAMBIT, Colours Edition, and their advisers.
In a statement, Dr. Christian Vega, OSAS and SWK Coordinator, emphasized the importance of experiential learning: “The involvement of organizations in the community fosters a culture of experience for our students beyond theoretical classroom teachings. It allows for cultural exchange, aligning with the new educational strategies outlined in BOR Resolution 50, s. 2024, emphasizing the necessity of immersion for practical learning applications. Furthermore, this promotes our institution’s branding and instills organizational pride among us.”
The Binibining Calabanga 2025 also highlighted CBSUA’s talent, with BSE English student Ms. Cristal Grace Metra receiving the title of Ms. Congeniality and BEED 4 student Ms. Regine Bravante earning the 1st Runner-Up Binibining Calabanga 2025. During her final question and answer segment, Ms. Bravante stated, “As a youth, I can take part in making Calabanga a leading destination for culture-based economic development by always living with humility. When we are humble, it keeps us grounded, allowing us to practice our local dialects, support our local products, and honor our faith.”
The university also played a significant role in the 3-day Kulturang Calabanga, Paorogon Ta, organized by Dr. Rose Cid, Mr. Richard Castor, Dr. Roselyn Chavez, and Dr. Jobert Narvadez. The event showcased the talents of CBSUA’s Culture and Arts Group, including the Colours Edition Dance Troupe, CBSUA Chorale, SAMBIT ng CBSUA, The Writers Project, and the CBSUA Marching Band, alongside performances from students and teachers from Calabanga East and West District of the Department of Education. The event concluded with a joyous community dance.
Additionally, the College of Arts and Sciences hosted an afternoon event, “Tataramon and Talinhaga: Boses ni Lolo asin Lola,” on September 1, 2025, where senior citizens displayed their talents through traditional performances like tigsik and rawitdawit.
Sambit ng Calabanga staged “Amang Hinulid” as part of Pagsalingoy 2025, celebrating the rich faith and heritage of Calabanga through the history and miracles of Amang Hinulid, a significant religious site and cultural icon in the municipality.
Dr. Ernesto Doloso Jr., the Campus Administrator of CBSUA Calabanga, is extremely pleased that in addition to the institution’s solid collaboration with the Calabanga Local Government, which will undoubtedly lead to more events and opportunities for the youth and constituents of Calabanga in the future, the events in Calabanga that coincided with the 276th town fiesta provided opportunities for students and employees to showcase their skills, talents, and abilities in various event segments that genuinely exemplified inclusivity in diversity and creativity in all its forms.
CBSUA’s participation culminated in the Calabanga Grand Civic Parade, featuring faculty, non-teaching personnel, and over 30 recognized student organizations. This robust involvement strengthens the university’s dedication to community engagement and cultural heritage. | 𝘙𝘦𝘱𝘰𝘳𝘵𝘴 𝘧𝘳𝘰𝘮 𝘔𝘳. 𝘑𝘦𝘳𝘰𝘮𝘦 𝘏𝘪𝘱𝘰𝘭𝘪𝘵𝘰 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘔𝘳.
