The Central Bicol State University of Agriculture (CBSUA), in partnership with Dagam Farm in South Korea, successfully concluded its short-term program Hello Korea! Learning to Speak Korean in Everyday Life, School, and Agriculture through a culminating ceremony held on December 2, 2025 via Zoom.
The initiative started on August 19, 2025 during the orientation program. It formed part of CBSUA’s continuing commitment to broaden global education opportunities and strengthen cultural learning across its campuses. The program engaged students from Pili, Calabanga, Pasacao, and Sipocot campuses representing various academic programs, including BS Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering, BS Agriculture, Bachelor of Elementary Education, Bachelor of Secondary Education, BTLED, and BA in English Language. Students completed the course as part of their Practicum, ASEAN Integration and Foreign Language, or Multilingualism and Multiculturalism subjects. In total, 54 participants immersed themselves in a 32-hour Korean language training designed to introduce practical expressions used in daily communication, school interactions, and agriculture settings.
Throughout the duration of the course, students participated in speaking and reading activities with their Korean teachers and with Engr. Annelin M. Paming. They practiced basic Korean pronunciation, simple reading exercises, and short speaking drills that helped them use everyday expressions more confidently. Cultural elements were also introduced, allowing students to learn about Korean traditions, daily life, and work practices. These activities strengthened their foundational communication skills while giving them a meaningful appreciation of Korean culture.
The culminating program featured messages from key university officials and partners. Dr. Cherry Love B. Montales, Vice President for Business and External Affairs, highlighted the importance of international language programs in nurturing globally competent graduates. Dr. Alberto N. Naperi, University President, commended the dedication of the students and expressed gratitude to Dagam Farm for its continued support. In his message, Mr. Chang Goog Kang, CEO of Dagam Farm, encouraged the participants to continue exploring opportunities for intercultural learning and future collaboration.
Certificates of completion and appreciation were awarded by deans of participating colleges, recognizing the efforts of students, Korean language teachers, and Dagam Farm. Special acknowledgment was also given to the International Relation Coordinators of all CBSUA campuses for ensuring the smooth coordination of the program. Korean language instructor and visiting expert Engr. Annelin M. Paming was likewise recognized for her committed facilitation and guidance throughout the course.
The program also supported CBSUA’s efforts in advancing SDG 4 (Quality Education) and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) by promoting global learning, intercultural understanding, and strengthened collaboration with international partners. The Hello Korea! program stands as another milestone in CBSUA’s internationalization initiatives, reflecting the university’s dedication to preparing students for a globally connected world and expanding meaningful partnerships that enrich academic and cultural learning experiences. | 𝘙𝘦𝘱𝘰𝘳𝘵 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘱𝘩𝘰𝘵𝘰𝘴 𝘧𝘳𝘰𝘮 𝘋𝘳.
