Central Bicol State University of Agriculture (CBSUA) secured a commanding victory in the business pitching competition of the Project Mobilizing Available Resources through Inclusive Training on Entrepreneurship of Student-Grantees (MARiTES), held on November 19, 2025, at the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Region V Conference Room.
The triumphant CBSUA team, composed of Bryan B. Gallarte, John Carlo Montana, and Rica Dimaiwat, took center stage with their business idea, Baaoโs Best, outperforming representatives from seven state universities and colleges (SUCs) across the Bicol Region. Their win earned them a Php9,000 cash prize and a certificate, while Gallarte also received the Most Active Special Award for his exceptional engagement throughout the activity.
Gallarte shared that the victory came as both a surprise and a source of great pride. He expressed gratitude for the knowledge and support gained during the 3-day training, emphasizing how the program deepened their understanding of business planning and development. He also thanked DTI and the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) Region V for providing continuous guidance and valuable learning opportunities.
Participating institutions included Sorsogon State University (SorSU), Bicol State College of Applied Sciences and Technology (BISCAST), Forbes College, Dr. Emilio B. Espinosa Sr. Memorial State College of Agriculture and Technology (DEBESMSCAT), Camarines Norte State College (CNSC), and Partido State University (ParSU). BISCAST secured second place, winning Php6,000 and a certificate, while CNSC finished third with a Php3,000 prize and a certificate.
In her message, DTI Sorsogon Provincial Director Ma. Lourdes Pancho highlighted the importance of the training in empowering Tertiary Education Subsidy (TES) grantees to pursue entrepreneurial ventures. She reaffirmed DTIโs commitment to supporting young innovators and strengthening the regionโs entrepreneurial landscape.
