CBSUA EARNS NATIONAL RECOGNITION AT THE PCA COINS AWARDS

The Central Bicol State University of Agriculture (CBSUA) has been recognized by the Philippine Coconut Authority (PCA) as its Partner State University and College (SUC) for making significant contributions to the development of the coconut industry. The recognition was conferred during the Coconut Industry Sustainability (COINS) Awards Ceremony in celebration of the 39th National Coconut Week, held on September 2, 2025, at The Westin Manila.

Representing CBSUA President Dr. Alberto N. Naperi, Abigail V. Guinoo, RAgr, MSc, the newly designated Director of the Extension Services Division (ESD), together with Prof. Vladimir R. Foronda, former ESD Director, proudly accepted the award.

This honor highlights CBSUA’s active role in advancing coconut industry sustainability through its collaborative livelihood programs with local coconut farmer cooperatives and associations, extensive academic research on coconut processing and marketing, and active participation in the Coconut Farmers and Industry Development Plan (CFIDP). Central to these efforts is the Extension Services Division (ESD) Office, which plays a vital role in bridging the university’s expertise with community needs, together with the dedicated faculty of CBSUA, whose technical assistance ensures that knowledge is effectively translated into interventions that empower the different sectors of the coconut industry. The university has also been instrumental in conducting provincial information caravans and supporting the CHED-CFIDP scholars program, further strengthening its commitment to inclusive and sustainable coconut industry development.

Adding to the celebration, Mr. Arjay T. Borde of San Ramon, Tinambac, Camarines Sur, and a CBSUA Pili Campus alumnus (Batch 2024, Bachelor of Science in Agriculture major in Animal Science), was also awarded as Outstanding Young Coconut Farmer. His exceptional dedication, innovative practices, and skills in coconut farming have made him a role model for young farmers nationwide.

This milestone strengthens CBSUA’s commitment to advancing coconut development programs and championing inclusive and sustainable growth for the industry and its communities.  |  𝘙𝘦𝘱𝘰𝘳𝘵 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘱𝘩𝘰𝘵𝘰 𝘧𝘳𝘰𝘮 𝘌𝘹𝘵𝘦𝘯𝘴𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘚𝘦𝘳𝘷𝘪𝘤𝘦𝘴 𝘋𝘪𝘷𝘪𝘴𝘪𝘰𝘯
