The Central Bicol State University of Agriculture (CBSUA) held a forum on managing university Agri-Production Units as sustainable enterprises on January 29, 2026, to explore farming opportunities, organic practices, and the use of social media to advance agricultural ventures.
Organized by the Office of the Vice President for Business and External Affairs (OVPBEA) through the University Business Affairs office (UBAO), under the leadership of Dr. Gladys G. Rosales, the forum aimed to strengthen strategies for turning University-managed Agri-Production Units into viable and sustainable enterprises.
The activity brought together staff of UBAO, farm workers/farmers, Organic Agriculture Staff and Farm Workers, RAC, and CBSUA cooperative farmers, whose active participation highlighted the importance of collaboration between academic institutions and local agricultural communities in promoting sustainable farming.
Serving as the resource speaker, Mr Jaroslav Hajn, owner of Inflore- an organic farmer and a social entrepreneur- shared valuable insights on:
- Exploring farming opportunities by identifying niche markets and innovative approaches.
- Harnessing social media to connect small farms directly with consumers, expand market reach, and build stronger brand visibility.
- An organic farming know-how through practical techniques that balance profitability with environmental responsibility.
Mr. Hajn also emphasized that farming can be more than just a livelihood; it can be a fulfilling way to achieve both happiness and prosperity. He encourages the participants to align their work with passion and purpose, showing how agriculture can lead to a meaningful and sustainable life.
