CBSUA STRENGTHENS ABE PROGRAM, TRAINS STUDENTS AS DIGITAL EXTENSION PRACTITIONERS

The Central Bicol State University of Agriculture continues to strengthen its commitment to developing future-ready Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering professionals through a Training of Trainers held on October 13, 2025, at the Farmer’s Training Hall, CBSUA-Pili Campus.

With the theme “Preparing Future ABE Professionals for Digital Extension Work,” the activity was jointly organized by the College of Engineering and Food Science, the Extension Services Division, and the Philippine Society of Agricultural and Biosystems Engineers–Pre-Professional Group (PSABE-PPG) CBSUA Chapter.

The training was spearheaded by Engr. Lynet Alto, Chairperson of the BS Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering Program and proponent of the activity. The initiative forms part of her extension project that aims to capacitate agricultural technicians, farmers, agricultural extension workers (AEWs), and other clients with an interest in agricultural engineering through practical and technology-driven learning engagements.

Serving as resource speakers were Mr. Marvin R. Molin, staff member of the Planning, Monitoring, and Evaluation Unit of the Extension Services Division, and Ms. Zyra B. Hila, Agricultural Technician II from the Technology Packaging and Information Dissemination Unit. They emphasized the relevance of webinars as an effective digital extension platform to reach farmers, fisherfolk, and other community stakeholders, particularly when in-person engagements are limited.

The training featured hands-on workshops where ABE 190 students gained practical experience in planning and conducting webinars, utilizing digital tools such as StreamYard and Google Forms for event facilitation, automated certificate generation, and creating engaging digital and promotional materials.

The outcome of the training is expected to be demonstrated in the coming days as students independently facilitate training activities related to agricultural engineering, showcasing their readiness to apply what they have learned.

Through this initiative, CBSUA continues to uphold its mission of producing empowered, skilled, and service-oriented graduates equipped with the digital and technical competencies essential for advancing agricultural innovation and community development. | 𝘙𝘦𝘱𝘰𝘳𝘵 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘱𝘩𝘰𝘵𝘰𝘴 𝘧𝘳𝘰𝘮 𝘔𝘢𝘳𝘷𝘪𝘯 𝘔𝘰𝘭𝘪𝘯, 𝘌𝘚𝘋
