In an initiative to bring together educators and leaders committed to advancing science education, the Central Bicol State University of Agriculture (CBSUA), through the College of Development Education (CDE) and Extension Services Division (ESD), officially opened its first workshop for the “Sustain ScieEd Project” under the GENES Extension Program, on July 2, 2025, at the Farmer’s Training Hall.
The training workshop aimed to equip participants with practical and innovative approaches to teaching science that are rooted in real-world relevance and sustainability. In the morning session, the participants explored classroom strategies that go beyond textbooks as featured on the talk “Innovative Strategies for Science Education and Literacy: The Philippine Context,” given by Dr. Rey-Mark G. Basagre, Program Chairperson, SEP, and faculty of CDE.
The afternoon session focused on the “Comprehensive Approaches to Systems Thinking Promoting Scientific Literacy: The Case of Philippine Science Education Public Schools,” discussed by Ms. Catherine B. Briones-Guarnes, Science Expert faculty from Camarines Sur Polytechnic Colleges.
