CEM, LRV Dorm named as eco-friendly college and dorm

The College of Economics and Management (CEM)and LRV Dormitory placed 1st in the 2016 Search for Sustainable and Eco-friendly College/Department and Dormitory in a competition sponsored by the Environmental Management Office headed by Professor Joyce V. De La Trinidad.The winners were awarded during a ceremony held on December 19, 2016 at the Ciriaco N. Divinagracia Hall.

The competing units were evaluated by internal and external evaluators represented by the faculty, non-teaching staff, students ofthe University, Local Government Unit, Environmental Management Bureau (EMB) representative and other environment advocates.

Winners were determined through the following criteria: Ecological Solid Waste Management; Paper Conservation; Water Conservation; Energy Efficiency and Conservation; Clean Air Program; and Greening Program.

The other winners for college/department level were Department of Animal Science and College of Development Education (tied for 2nd place), and Department of Landscape and Environmental Management (3rd place).For the dormitory level, the other winners were Roco’s Dormitory (2ndplace) and Our Lady of Lourdes Dormitory (3rd place).

The search was designed to recognize University departments, colleges and dormitories that have successfully implemented environmental programs for a green CBSUA.
