CBSUA CONDUCTS SOYBEAN PROCESSING TRAINING FOR COMMUNITY ENTERPRISES

The Central Bicol State University of Agriculture (CBSUA), in partnership with Carmel Agri-Learning Farm Inc. and the Bicol Organic Soybean Producers and Processors Association, conducted a Capacity Building on Soybean Processing for Sustainable Community Enterprises on June 14, 2026, in Binanuanan, Pili, Camarines Sur.

The activity was spearheaded by Leah Banastao-Sumalinog, project proponent of the Capability Development of Farmers on Crop Productivity Enhancement (Phase 2), together with Santiago K. Cervantes, President of Carmel Agri-Learning Farm Inc. Also present were Abigail V. Guinoo, Director of the Extension Services Division, and Rodel M. Garbeles, Agricultural Technologist and MUPAP/OAP Focal Person.

Serving as resource speaker was Rommel Rolando G. Bailey, founder of Likhaya, who discussed the nutritional value, processing methods, and market opportunities for soybean-based products. Participants were introduced to the production of soy milk, tofu, taho, and other value-added products through lectures and hands-on demonstrations.

The training also covered product quality assurance, food safety and hygiene practices, packaging, labeling, and basic enterprise development.
