Spearheading initiatives to transform local government units (LGUs) into sustainable and environmentally conscious communities, the Department of Science and Technology’s (DOST) iSTART program held a consultation forum attended by Central Bicol State University, with other stakeholders, government officials, and experts on July 13, 2023, at Naga Regent Hotel, Naga City.
By harnessing the power of S&T and promoting innovative livelihood opportunities, iSTART envisions the establishment of green cities across the province. The forum at Naga Regent Hotel in Naga City saw the participation of the esteemed iSTART team from Central Bicol State University of Agriculture (CBSUA), who have been instrumental in the program’s success at LGU Pasacao.
Today, the CBSUA iSTART team marked another significant milestone as they lent their expertise and support to LGU Libamanan in their quest for progress and sustainable development.
Leading the CBSUA iSTART team were faculty members who have played pivotal roles in the program’s success. Director Vlady Foronda, renowned for his expertise in sustainable development and technology integration, brought his valuable insights to the table. Director Philip Talay, an advocate for DRRM and CCA, shared his vast knowledge in livelihood sustainability and capacity building. Additionally, former Campus Administrator of Pasacao Campus, Prof. Carlo Cornejo, brought his experience in implementing iSTART initiatives firsthand, having witnessed the positive impact it has made in LGU Pasacao.
One of the key objectives of the consultation forum was to identify specific areas where the iSTART program could provide technical assistance and resources to foster technological advancements and enhance livelihood opportunities. By collaborating with LGU Libamanan, CBSUA’s iSTART team aims to create a blueprint for sustainable development that can be replicated and adapted by other communities in the province.
The partnership among CBSUA, BISCAST, CSPC, PaeSu, NGAs and the DOST iSTART program has proven to be a catalyst for positive change in Camarines Sur.
