Small businesses are the backbone of the Philippine economy. However, they are also the most vulnerable to unforeseen events such as natural disasters, pandemics, and economic downturns. To mitigate these risks and ensure the sustained operation of small businesses in Camarines Norte, Food for the Hungry, in partnership with the Central Bicol State University of Agriculture, conducted a Business Continuity Planning (BCP) Workshop on September 14-15, 2023, at the SPACFI in Daet, Camarines Norte.
Representatives from eight ( 8 ) organizations of small business owners from the province joined the event. The workshop aimed to equip participants with the knowledge and skills needed to navigate potential risks and ensure the sustained operation of their businesses. Two distinguished resource persons, Lea Llagas-Pacao and Jasmin Arabe, led discussions on various aspects of BCP, including risk assessment, identification of critical services and processes, and continuity strategies.
The workshop provided a valuable opportunity for small business owners to learn from industry experts about the importance of proactive planning in mitigating risks and maintaining business operations during unforeseen events. Participants gained practical knowledge and workable strategies to develop and implement their BCP frameworks. Food for the Hungry and the Central Bicol State University of Agriculture’s successful partnership in organizing the workshop highlights their commitment to supporting local businesses and small business owners in Camarines Norte.
