The Central Bicol State University of Agriculture (CBSUA) university library held various activities on November 24-28, 2025, including a visit to Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDLs) at the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) in Naga City, in light of the National Book Week Celebration.

Guided by this year’s theme, “Tulay ang Pagbasa sa Bukas na puno ng Pag-asa”, the university library, headed by the university librarian, Mrs. Rowena Manaog, spearheaded activities which spanned across the week-long celebration. Activities where students participated in are guess the book page, book hunting, snake and ladder game, word scrabble, reading fest, and mesa ng swerte. Through these activities, the university library was able to promote its importance to academic learning and that it can be fun. Identified faculty, staff, and students were also given rewards because of their patronage of the university library’s services.

Extending the activities beyond the campus premises, the university library brought the celebration to its partner agency, the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) Naga City, on November 26. Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDLs) who are officially enrolled students of CBSUA Main Campus, participated in the activities prepared by the team. This initiative promoted literacy and inclusivity, which highlights the transformative power of reading in all environments.

Lastly, a Librarians’ Forum was conducted. Taking place on November 28, the forum gathered librarians of all CBSUA campuses, and librarians and library-in-charges of partner Local Universities and Colleges (LUCs) in Camarines Sur.

The week-long celebration underscored the university library’s continued commitment to fostering a culture of reading, strengthening literacy, and building meaningful connections within and beyond the campus. | 𝘗𝘩𝘰𝘵𝘰𝘴 𝘧𝘳𝘰𝘮 𝘜𝘯𝘪𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘴𝘪𝘵𝘺 𝘓𝘪𝘣𝘳𝘢𝘳𝘺
