CBSUA, PSM BICOL HOLD FOOD AND MEDICAL MICROBIOLOGY SYMPOSIUM

The Central Bicol State University of Agriculture (CBSUA), in partnership with the Philippine Society for Microbiology, Inc. (PSM)–Bicol Chapter, conducted an online cluster symposium on food and medical microbiology on January 31, 2026, bringing together 668 registered participants from the Bicol Region and other parts of the country to discuss current issues and innovations in the field.

With the theme “Microbial Crossroads: Issues and Innovations in Food and Medical Microbiology,” the symposium marked a milestone in strengthening the emerging partnership between CBSUA and PSM Bicol and served as a key initiative under the PROBE Extension Program of the BS Biology program of the College of Arts and Sciences (CAS).

The symposium was spearheaded by the PSM Bicol Chapter, led by Dr. Maria Wendy M. Solomo, Chairperson of Cluster 1, and Mr. Alvin Z. Grulla, Chapter President, with support from CBSUA’s CAS Biology Department under Department Chairperson Prof. Imelda Corazon C. Camposano and CAS Dean Prof. Katrina G. Gepilano, and with members of the technical committee stationed at the Farmers’ Training Hall.

Both institutions reaffirmed their shared commitment to advancing microbiology education, fostering research engagement, and strengthening professional networks within the scientific community. | (𝘙𝘦𝘱𝘰𝘳𝘵 𝘧𝘳𝘰𝘮 𝘔𝘴. 𝘔𝘢𝘺 𝘌𝘴𝘲𝘶𝘦𝘫𝘰; 𝘱𝘩𝘰𝘵𝘰 𝘤𝘳𝘦𝘥𝘪𝘵𝘴 𝘵𝘰 𝘔𝘴. 𝘒𝘢𝘵 𝘎𝘦𝘱𝘪𝘭𝘢𝘯𝘰 & 𝘗𝘚𝘔)
