CBSUA CONDUCTS CONSULTATIVE MEETING ON STINGLESS BEE UPDATES AND PUSO NEW MEMBER ORIENTATION

The Central Bicol State University of Agriculture (CBSUA), through its Regional Apiculture Center (RAC), Pili Campus Administrator, Extension Services Division (ESD), and partner agencies, conducted the Updates and Consultative Meeting on Stingless Bee and PUSO New Member Orientation at the 2nd Floor Training Center on January 13, 2026.

The half-day activity brought together stakeholders, program partners, researchers, and members of the PUSO organization to strengthen collaboration, share updates, and align initiatives in support of the regionโ€™s emerging stingless bee industry.

The event was spearheaded by Johanna Cordial, Director of RAC, who warmly welcomed the participants. The opening message and meeting rationale were delivered by Sir Rodel A. Gabeles, OAP Focal Person, emphasizing the importance of collective action in advancing meliponiculture as a sustainable livelihood enterprise.

An orientation on meliponiculture was presented by Amelia R. Nicolas, CANR Faculty, along with Hanilyn A. Hidalgo and Mia Bella R. Fresnido, both CEM Faculty, who also introduced the concept of meliponitourism. Updates on the Stingless Bee Emerging Enterprise were shared, highlighting ongoing efforts, recent accomplishments, and future directions of the program.

A key highlight of the meeting was the Election of Officers for the Stingless Bee Advisory Board, where Amelia R. Nicolas, CANR Faculty, was elected as Chairman, followed by the introduction of new PUSO members facilitated by Dante Borromeo, PUSO President, where they affirmed their commitment to strengthening member engagement and sustaining PUSO initiatives. The event was also graced by representatives from ATI and DA, who expressed their support for the program and its stakeholders.

The activity concluded with acknowledgments of PUSO members and closing remarks from Abigail V. Guinoo, Director of ESD, reaffirmed CBSUAโ€™s shared commitment to empowering beekeepers, strengthening networks, and enhancing livelihood opportunities through collaborative extension efforts.
