The Farmer’s Ideation Hall at the CBSUA Agriville and Learning Hub is now filled with participants as the Seminar on “Advances in Poultry Nutrition, Meat Quality Evaluation, and Breeding Strategies for Native Poultry” unfolds today, November 28, 2025. With the theme “Breeding Better, Feeding Smarter, Quality Matters: Reawakening PSAS Bicol for a Resilient Animal Industry,” the event brings together experts, faculty members, students, researchers, and industry practitioners committed to strengthening the region’s poultry sector.
Sponsored by the CBSUA College of Agriculture and Natural Resources – Department of Animal Science (UP PSAE PhD Animal Science students) in collaboration with the UPLB College of Agriculture and Food Science – Institute of Animal Science, the seminar features discussions on innovations in poultry nutrition, modern meat quality assessment techniques, and advanced breeding strategies for native poultry.
The program will feature distinguished speakers: Marianito Tesorero, RAgr will provide updates on the Regional Livestock and Poultry Program; Dr. Nancy Salamanca Romano will discuss Advances in Poultry Nutrition, highlighting emerging trends and innovations; Dr. Rene C. Santiago will present Breeding Strategies for Native Poultry, focusing on improving and sustaining native breeds. Rounding out the sessions, Dr. Maria Cynthia R. Oliveros, PSAS Vice President, will talk about Poultry Meat Quality Evaluation, emphasizing modern techniques and standards.
