In 2025, the University Business Affairs Office (UBAO) continued to maintain and oversee the operations of the Central Bicol State University of Agriculture’s (CBSUA) income-generating projects. These projects include the Integrated Farm Project, Tilapia Production Project, Dragonfruit and Grapes Project, Nursery Project, Water Refilling Station, and the seven-door Commercial Buildings, all contributing to the sustainable growth of the university’s business ventures.
During the first quarter of the year, UBAO focused on several key activities. The office conducted meetings and deployment sessions with CANR-BAT Curriculum students for their hands-on practicum in the Field Laboratory. Improvements were made to the farmhouse, including repairs to fencing, roads, and the fishpond project. UBAO also engaged in consultations with CBSUA land tenants, stakeholders, and partners to explore opportunities for future business development. In addition, the management of the Business Center was formally turned over from the Auxiliary Division to UBAO, and an ocular inventory and validation of crops and animal projects for FY 2024 were completed to ensure accurate record-keeping and operational efficiency.
In the second quarter, the office intensified its efforts to support learning and development for farm workers and staff through participation in training and seminars. UBAO also represented the university in several exhibits and trade fairs, showcasing its diverse range of products. The Crops Project yielded a bountiful harvest, including papaya, eggplant, calamansi, pineapple, banana, cacao, and other vegetables. CBSUA welcomed visitors from Catanduanes State University, including their President, who consulted with the university on the Crop Management Program. Furthermore, the second batch of BAT practicum students was deployed to the Field Laboratory, continuing the hands-on learning tradition.
The third quarter marked a period of intensified efforts under the leadership of the newly designated head, Dr. Gladys G. Rosales. The office celebrated the blessing of its building, further strengthening its operational base. UBAO actively participated in ORBIT through exhibits that showcased its products, while also conducting clearing and cleaning operations at the Food Court Business Center Area, known as Rabus. The quarter concluded with a comprehensive meeting involving farm workers, staff, and business owners to ensure alignment and coordination across all projects.
In the final quarter, UBAO concluded the year with concentrated efforts to sustain and expand its operations. Following the impact of Typhoon Uwan, clearing operations were carried out at the Fishpond and Crops Projects, along with land and pond bed preparation. Benchmarking activities were conducted with officials from the University of the Philippines Los Baños (UPLB) to explore future project opportunities. The office also validated and audited business owners’ accounts, ensuring compliance and transparency, and collaborated closely with the CBSUA Resident COA as part of its official oversight responsibilities.
Overall, UBAO’s consistent initiatives throughout 2025 reflected its commitment to strengthening CBSUA’s income-generating projects, enhancing staff and student development, and fostering sustainable business growth for the university.
