The Central Bicol State University of Agriculture (CBSUA)–Pili Campus came together on December 10, 2025, to observe Campus Ethics Day with the theme “Let’s Get Ethical,” held at the LRV–Student Atrium.
The campus-wide activity was organized by the GEC 4 faculty members Dr. Rolando P. Oloteo, Mr. John Oliver O. Delantar, Mr. Joemer C. Formalejo, and Ms. Claire P. Bolalin, who brought together students from twenty-four (24) GEC 4–Ethics sections representing the College of Development Education, College of Veterinary Medicine, College of Agriculture and Natural Resources, and the College of Economics and Management.
The celebration opened with a Holy Mass presided over by University Chaplain Rev. Fr. Bernard M. Lagatic, who emphasized the value of rest, reflection, and character formation in shaping one’s life direction. This was followed by a welcome message from the Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences, Associate Professor Katrina G. Gepilano. Dr. Rolando P. Oloteo, Chairperson of the General Education Department (GED), then outlined the objectives of the activity, highlighting ethics as a cornerstone of personal integrity, academic responsibility, and moral development.
The main program featured four major activities: Knowledge Sharing, Advocacy Campaign, Act of Kindness, and Short Film Presentation. These activities were anchored on the four fundamental ethical theories: Virtue Ethics, Natural Law, Deontology, and Utilitarianism. Through Knowledge Sharing, students explained the core ideas of their assigned ethical frameworks and demonstrated their relevance to everyday experiences. Advocacy campaigns presented during the program reflected the students’ awareness of contemporary social concerns and their willingness to contribute to positive change.
The Act of Kindness component enabled students to serve various communities, allowing them to gain a deeper understanding of diverse perspectives while practicing empathy and social responsibility. In addition, the Short Film presentations showcased the students’ creativity through films that conveyed ethical and moral lessons drawn from their learning in the Ethics course.
The Campus Ethics Day Celebration provided a venue for students to engage meaningfully with moral principles beyond the classroom setting. The activity fostered camaraderie among participants and highlighted the values of cooperation, compassion, and respect for the contributions of others. It concluded on a positive note, leaving students with heightened ethical awareness, strengthened values, and a deeper sense of community within the university. | 𝘙𝘦𝘱𝘰𝘳𝘵 𝘧𝘳𝘰𝘮 𝘙𝘰𝘭𝘢𝘯𝘥𝘰 𝘗.
