The Central Bicol State University of Agriculture (CBSUA) strengthened its academic and research linkages with the Philippine Society of Microbiology (PSM) Bicol Chapter through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on January 27, 2026, at the University Boardroom, CBSUA, Pili, Camarines Sur.
This MOU marked a significant step in advancing collaboration in research, innovation, and capacity-building initiatives, particularly in microbiology and related scientific applications.
In his message, CBSUA President Dr. Alberto N. Naperi emphasized the importance of scientific research in regional development, noting the need to further strengthen research capacity in Bicol. He pointed out that partnerships like the one with the PSM Bicol are vital in advancing science and innovation in the region.
PSM Bicol Chapter President Alvin Z. Grulla likewise expressed appreciation for the formalization of the partnership, noting that the agreement opens new opportunities for sustained collaboration between the two institutions.
The program formally opened with a welcome message from Dr. Rey-Mark Basagre, who highlighted the role of institutional partnerships in strengthening academic programs and research-driven instruction.
An overview of the Memorandum of Understanding outlined the key areas of cooperation between CBSUA and the PSM Bicol Chapter, including co-sponsoring training and conferences, sharing technical expertise, and exploring collaborative academic activities that support faculty development and student learning.
Delivering the statement of commitment, Dr. Dariel A. Palmiano, Vice President for Research and Innovation of CBSUA, underscored the University’s commitment to fostering research collaborations that enhance scientific capacity and innovation.
Meanwhile, PSM Bicol Vice President Emil B. Broñoso delivered the statement of affirmation, expressing the organization’s support for the partnership and its shared vision of promoting scientific excellence through collaborative research.
The MOU signing reflects CBSUA’s continuing efforts to expand its network of institutional partners and promote research, innovation, and academic collaboration.
