The Central Bicol State University of Agriculture (CBSUA)ย hosted a formal coordination meeting with the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) Region V on April 21, 2026, to advance the implementation of the System of Rice Intensification across the Bicol Region.

Representing DAR Region V was Assistant Regional Director for Administration (ARDA) Herald Tambal, who led the agency’s delegation in the coordination discussions. From CBSUA, the meeting was attended by Pili Campus Administrator Allan B. Del Rosario, Dean Fortunato M. Balbis, Jr. of the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources, Dean Glaiza J. Visitacion of the College of Engineering and Food Science, Engr. Julius L. De Villa, and Mr. Joel S. Balindan. Other faculty members from the mentioned colleges of the University also attended the activity for their significant role in intensifying the rice production system in the region.

The session brought all parties together to align priorities, share updates, and strengthen collaborative efforts toward the effective implementation of SRI โ€” an internationally recognized approach that promotes higher rice productivity through optimized planting methods, reduced water usage, and improved soil management.
