Forty-two (42) beneficiaries of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) TUPAD Program completed the Sweet Corn Production and Management Training on June 3, 2026, under the Central Bicol State University of Agriculture CBSUA–TUPAD Convergence Program.
The training was conducted through the partnership of the CBSUA and DOLE to introduce participants to recommended sweet corn production technologies.
The activity was held at the CBSUA Agriville and Learning Hub, an Accredited Learning Site for Agriculture (ALSA), where participants attended lecture sessions and field demonstrations on sweet corn production and management.
Leading the activity was Engr. Dulce Maria Abigail Alto Jastio, Project Manager of the CBSUA–TUPAD Convergence Program.
Serving as resource person, Project Development Officer III Buster A. Ibarbia discussed sweet corn variety selection, land preparation, planting, nutrient and irrigation management, pest and disease control, harvesting, post-harvest handling, and basic enterprise development.
Participants later applied the recommended production practices through field activities, including proper planting, fertilizer application, irrigation, weed management, pest and disease monitoring.
