BASIC SOLAR POWER INSTALLATION TRAINING KICKS OFF UNDER ‘AGREE’ PROGRAM

Farmer-beneficiaries of Barangay Himaao in the municipality of Pili began their three-day Basic Solar Power Installation Training on December 9, 2025, under the AGREE (Agrarian Reform Governance for Resilience, Economic and Enterprise Development) Program of the Central Bicol State University of Agriculture (CBSUA). The training is conducted in partnership with the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority Regional Training Center (TESDA RTC) Pili, and the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) Camarines Sur 2.

Designed to open new livelihood opportunities, the training empowers Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries (ARBs) by equipping them with practical skills in installing and maintaining solar power systems. From December 9 to 11, 2025, participating farmers will learn how renewable energy can help reduce household and farm expenses while improving productivity and resilience.

Leading the initiative is Engr. Dulce Maria Abigail Alto Jastio, who emphasized that the AGREE Program is committed to uplifting farmers by providing them with relevant technical and vocational training. She noted that the program seeks to strengthen the capacity of ARBs to adopt sustainable technologies that directly support their livelihood.

TESDA RTC Pili trainer Engr. Carlo Saldivar guided the participants through the fundamentals of solar energy, safe installation procedures, and hands-on system assembly. His sessions aim to ensure that farmers gain confidence in using solar power as an alternative and reliable energy source, especially in rural communities where electricity interruptions remain common.

DAR CamSur II representatives Christine May Banaag-Carag and Monique Ofracio-Camacho also expressed their support for the farmers, highlighting how access to renewable energy skills can improve the efficiency and resilience of agrarian reform communities. Christopher Neri likewise assisted in facilitating the smooth implementation of the activity.

Farmers from Himaao shared their appreciation for the training, recognizing the value of solar power in reducing costs and supporting farm operations. The three-day program will conclude on December 11, 2025, with participants demonstrating their newly acquired skills in basic solar installation.

Through its partnership with TESDA and DAR, the AGREE Program continues to bring meaningful capacity-building initiatives to agrarian communities, ensuring that farmers remain at the center of development efforts in the province. |𝘗𝘩𝘰𝘵𝘰𝘴 𝘧𝘳𝘰𝘮 𝘈𝘙𝘗𝘖 𝘐 𝘊𝘩𝘳𝘪𝘴𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘦 𝘔𝘢𝘺 𝘉. 𝘊𝘢𝘳𝘢𝘨
