CBSUA BOLSTERS SUSTAINABILITY RESEARCH, INITIATIVES IN ICEEA 2024

Driven by its mission to address the sustainability challenges of the present time, the Central Bicol State University of Agriculture (CBSUA) brought together local and international researchers for the 5th International Conference on Education, Environment, and Agriculture (ICEEA) held on October 17, 2024.

This year’s theme, “Synergy for Sustainability: Transformative Education and Smart Agriculture for Resilient Blue Economy and Food Systems,” underscores the importance of international collaboration in promoting resilient education, environment, and agriculture systems.

ICEEA 2024 featured distinguished experts from various fields. Leading the roster of speakers were keynote speaker Dr. Tirso A. Ronquillo, President of the Philippine Association of State Universities and Colleges (PASUC) and Batangas State University – The National Engineering University, and Dr. Ethel Agnes Valenzuela, Commissioner of the Commission on Higher Education.

Joining them as plenary speakers were CHM Dr. Fatimah Salim, Director of the Atta-Ur-Rahman Institute for National Product Discovery (AuRIns), UiTM Puncak Alam, and Associate Professor at the School of Chemistry and Environment, Faculty of Applied Sciences, Universiti Teknologi MARA Shah Alam; Dr. IR. Alicia Sinsuw, MT, Associate Professor at the Electrical Engineering Department, Faculty of Engineering, Sam Ratulangi University, Indonesia; and Dr. Raul G. Bradecina, Vice President for Research, Extension, and Knowledge Management, and former President of Partido State University.

Participants from local and international research institutions took part in the plenary research presentation sessions, where invited panel evaluators assessed the studies and determined the winning entries in various categories. The sessions served as an avenue for researchers to showcase their groundbreaking work and exchange insights with fellow scholars.

The international conference reflects CBSUA’s unwavering commitment to advancing sustainability. The University aims to continue hosting ICEEA annually in response to the growing need for innovative solutions to societal challenges, particularly in education, environment, and agriculture.
