The Central Bicol State University of Agriculture (CBSUA), through its SUSLIVES Extension Program, conducted a Skills Training on Processing Dried Mushroom on June 17, 2026, at the CBSUA Organic Agriculture Center.
The training provided participants with knowledge and practical skills in mushroom processing as a value-adding enterprise. Serving as resource speaker was Mr. David Mark Diaz, Director of the Food Testing Laboratory, who discussed the nutritional benefits of mushrooms, proper harvesting and sanitation practices, food safety standards, and quality control measures.
Participants were guided through the process of producing dried mushrooms, from sorting and cleaning to drying, packaging, labeling, and storage. A practical demonstration also allowed them to apply the techniques discussed during the training.
The activity highlighted the potential of mushroom processing in extending product shelf life, minimizing post-harvest losses, and creating additional income opportunities through value-added agricultural products. With this initiative, CBSUA continues to support community livelihood development and promote the utilization of locally available agricultural resources. | 𝘙𝘦𝘱𝘰𝘳𝘵 𝘧𝘳𝘰𝘮 𝘙𝘢𝘤𝘩𝘦𝘭 𝘕.
