CBSUA, DOST, CAMARINES SUR LGUs PUSH FOR SMART AGRICULTURE

Camarines Sur has taken a major step toward climate-resilient, technology-driven agriculture with the signing of a Tripartite Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) under Project SARAI Bicol on March 23, 2026, at the Naga Regent Hotel.

Anchored on the theme “Envisioning Smart Agriculture in the Province of Camarines Sur,” the event brought together key stakeholders from government, academia, and local government units (LGUs), signaling a unified push to modernize agriculture through science-based innovations.

As a core partner, the Central Bicol State University of Agriculture (CBSUA) continues to champion smarter, data-driven farming solutions in collaboration with the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) and LGUs across the province.

CBSUA President Alberto N. Naperi emphasized, “This initiative must not end with the signing of the MOA—it must translate into concrete, localized, science-based actions that address the impacts of climate change on agriculture.”

The program featured updates on Project SARAI’s nationwide implementation and showcased technologies such as SPIDTECH, BanaTech (Lakatan), Precision Agriculture, and the Water Advisory for Irrigation Scheduling System (WAISS), which support data-driven, climate-informed farming decisions.

The MOA formalized collaboration among DOST Region V, CBSUA, and LGUs, including Naga City, Buhi, Libmanan, Pasacao, San Jose, and Sipocot. Local leaders expressed strong support for adopting smart agriculture technologies to enhance food security and farmer resilience.
The initiative concludes with a shared commitment to scale up innovations and deliver science-based solutions directly to farming communities. | 𝘙𝘦𝘱𝘰𝘳𝘵 𝘧𝘳𝘰𝘮 𝘔𝘴. 𝘗𝘳𝘦𝘴𝘣𝘦𝘭 𝘗𝘳𝘦𝘴𝘵𝘰, 𝘊𝘈𝘚 𝘍𝘢𝘤𝘶𝘭𝘵𝘺
