CBSUA extends links to community on-air, ESD spearheads Surat sagkod Raburab


The Central Bicol State University of Agriculture as one of the agricultural universities in Bicol Region, has been a channel of important agricultural information and technology that helps improve the lives of the community through its various extension programs, projects and activities laid and implemented through the Extension Services Division (ESD).

As such, ESD continues to extend its links to community in disseminating information through radio broadcasting. Two radio programs, Boom Agrinegosyo airs every Saturday, 7:00 am-8:00 am at DWOS 103.9 AM Station, and Umaagring Kita airs every Sunday, 5:00 am-6:00 am at DWNX. Topics such as Vetiver production and handicraft making, organic agriculture, animal health and nutrition are being discussed in the programs. These radio programs are two of the major breakthroughs of the University in terms of extension projects.

ESD also organized training cum workshop on agri-broadcasting and scriptwriting, entitled “Surat sagkod Raburab: Extending Technology to Community On-Air,” on 27-28 February 2020 held at ESD Training Hall, CBSUA. The said training served as a platform to engage faculty researchers in extending products of their researches and other initiatives to the community on-air. Also, it aimed to improve the radio programs and enhance skills in agri-broadcasting and scriptwriting of the faculty involved.

The two-day training was made possible through the ESD Director, Dr. Lorena F. Hernandez, three resource speakers from Ateneo de Naga University, Media Studies Department, namely Prof. Karlos Jerome N. Llorin, Mr. Noel DC. Amador and Mr. Jan Victor F. Agna, and the selected faculty and staff from each campus.
