CBSUA HOSTS 2ND CECON MIDYEAR NATIONAL CONFERENCE

The Council of Economics Educators, Inc. in collaboration with the College of Economics and Management (CEM) and Department of Agricultural Economics spearheaded the 2nd Midyear National Conference with the theme “Economics Education and the New Business Models towards the 4IR” on 22-23 August 2019 at Central Bicol State University of Agriculture, Pili, Camarines Sur.

CECON is a National Organization of Economics Educators whose objectives are to facilitate exchange of information,provide innovative training tools to participants and to promote camaraderie,unity among schools to create partnership and linkages in the future. On its way to 23rd year, the Council of Economics Educators invited various speakers from public, private and academe who discussed the status and several issues on New Business Models and its impact on Industry Education.

The conference brought together faculty teaching economics, social sciences and business management, students,researchers and policy makers. Participants were from University of Mindanao, Mariners Polytechnic Colleges, Ateneo de Naga University, Catanduanes State University, Bukidnon State University, Don Servillano Platon Memorial National High School, University of Nueva Caceres and the host school, Central Bicol State University of Agriculture.

Former Department of Trade and Industry Division Chief of Camarines Sur, Ms. Ma. Theresa Avenido-Arbo discussing about the Role of Government in Implementing and Advocating New Business Models towards the 4I, Regional Governor, Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry Ms. Clarine P. Tobias tackling the Status of Bicol Region Towards the Implementation of New Business Models in the 4I, and Representative of NEDA V Regional Director, Ms. Cynthia S. Perez talking on the Roadmap of the Province of Albay Towards New Business Models in the 4IR were the highlights of the first day of the conference. The 2nd Day conference with the discussion on preparing the Bicol Entrepreneurs in the New Business Models Towards the 4IR delivered by Metro Naga Chamber of Commerce and Industry President, Mr.Ferdinand D. Sia. Chairman Emeritus of Council of Economics Educators, Inc.,Dr. Ruben M. Nayve Jr. shared information on Preparing Educators and Learners on the New Business Models Towards the 4IR. The Chief Executive Officer of Ace 2 Ace Prime Holdings, Inc., Mr. Rommel R. Acejo dwelt on the Entrepreneurial Response in the New Business Models Towards the 4th Industrial Evolution.

College Economics and Management Dean and External Vice President of CECON, Dr. Gladys G. Rosales believed that all the skills, theories, knowledge and business models that the speakers shared,will make the participants ready to face the 4IR world.
