The Central Bicol State University of Agriculture (CBSUA) joined the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for the establishment of the Bicol Pili Nuts Geographical Indication (GI) Technical Working Group (TWG) on June 29, 2026, at the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Regional Office V in Rawis, Legazpi City.
Representing CBSUA President Alberto N. Naperi, Director Abigail V. Guinoo of the Extension Services Division, signed the agreement alongside officials and representatives from partner agencies and organizations, signifying their shared commitment to advancing and protecting the Bicol pili industry.
The activity, spearheaded by the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Regional Office V under the leadership of Regional Director Dindo G. Nabol, aimed to strengthen collaboration among stakeholders in pursuing Geographical Indication (GI) recognition for Bicol pili nuts, thereby enhancing product quality, market competitiveness, and economic opportunities for local producers.
