The Central Bicol State University of Agriculture (CBSUA) Main Campus conducted its 1st Quarter fire and earthquake evacuation simulation drill on March 17, 2026, led by the CBSUA Resilience Center–Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (DRRM) Unit, to strengthen campus preparedness and emergency response capabilities.
The drill commenced at 2:33 PM, with students, faculty, and staff executing the “Drop, Cover, Hold” procedure before evacuating to designated areas. The activity concluded at 2:57 PM, completing the exercise in 24 minutes.
A total of 421 participants from four major buildings joined the simulation, including the Plant Science Building (102), New CANR Building (99), AgroSoil Building (114), and MPS Building (106).
The activity was supported by the CBSUA Gryphon Fire Brigade Volunteers, Disaster Response and Rescue Operation Unit (DRROU), Red Cross Youth Council, and the Disaster Quick Response Team (DQRT), who facilitated evacuation procedures, ensured safety compliance, and conducted headcounts.
A fire simulation exercise was also conducted with technical assistance from the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), whose personnel served as evaluators in assessing the university’s emergency response procedures.
Key safety protocols were reinforced during the drill, including maintaining composure, assisting persons with disabilities, and using stairways during evacuation. A post-activity debriefing was conducted to evaluate the drill and identify areas for improvement.
The simulation drill forms part of CBSUA’s ongoing efforts to strengthen disaster preparedness and institutional resilience across the university community. | 𝘙𝘦𝘱𝘰𝘳𝘵 𝘧𝘳𝘰𝘮 𝘊𝘙𝘊
