The Central Bicol State University of Agriculture (CBSUA)-College of Agriculture and Natural Resources (CANR), in partnership with Fundacion de Religiosa Para La Salud, Siervas De Jesus, AECID, and LGU-Pili, conducted a two-day training on Product Development, Packaging, and Labelling, with 30 leaders of the Ten (10) women agricultural cooperatives from the municipality of Pili from December 1-2, 2025 at the highly specialized facilities for food processing of the CBSUA-College of Engineering and Food Science.
This initiative was generally facilitated by Ms. Joce of FRS-Siervas and and Dr. Vladimir R. Foronda of CBSUA-CANR. The technical experts and faculty of the CEFS-Food Science, led by Prof Julieta M. Casaul, Prof. Zenaida M. Eredera, Prof. Nestor B. Kingking Jr., Prof. Merry Ann D. Tanudra, and Prof. David Mark Diaz – served as the trainers in this event.
The activity aimed to enhance their skills in developing products using local agri-materials (e.g. fresh mushroom, banana fruit, aromatic herbs). In this training, participants explored the development of creamy mushroom ice cream, chicharron mushroom, mushroom powder, banana chips with different flavors (e.g. natural flavor, basil), tocino, and longanisa (skinless and spicy).
