CBSUA RETAINS ISO 14001:2015 EMS CERTIFICATION, RECORDS ZERO NON-CONFORMITIES

The Central Bicol State University of Agriculture (CBSUA) proudly retains its ISO 14001:2015 certification following the successful conduct of its First Surveillance Audit on April 13–14, 2026, achieving an outstanding result of zero non-conformities—a clear testament to the strength and effectiveness of its environmental management system.

The audit formally commenced with an opening meeting held at the Alvaro Rabina Hall, where participants were warmly welcomed by Dr. Melinda Parro-Pan, Vice President for Academic Affairs and ISO Chairperson, represented by Dr. Jessel Anne Rodriguez. In her message, she underscored the university’s commitment to sustainability, stating that environmental stewardship is not merely a compliance requirement but an integral part of CBSUA’s educational mission.

Mr. Lionell Aala, Lead Auditor from TÜV Rheinland, presented an overview of the audit process, including its scope, objectives, and audit plan. He emphasized the importance of evaluating the effectiveness of the university’s environmental management system in achieving its stated goals and ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.

Following the opening program, the audit proper was carried out across various offices and processes at the Pili Campus. Areas assessed included Top Management, Internal Audit Systems, Facilities and Maintenance, Communication Processes, Emergency Preparedness and Response, Environmental Compliance Obligations, and Curriculum and Instruction. The external audit team from TÜV Rheinland, composed of Mr. Aala and Ms. Madilyn Plaza, facilitated a comprehensive and systematic evaluation. Audit activities also extended to the Pasacao Campus on the second day.

During the closing meeting, the external auditors presented their findings, highlighting both strengths and opportunities for enhancement. Most notably, they congratulated CBSUA for having no non-conformities, affirming that the university has effectively implemented and maintained its environmental management system in accordance with ISO 14001:2015 standards.

University President Dr. Alberto N. Naperi expressed his sincere appreciation to the auditors for their guidance and insights. He also extended his congratulations to the entire university community, whose collective effort and commitment made this achievement possible. He encouraged everyone to continue upholding environmental responsibility and striving for even greater excellence

The successful conduct of the surveillance audit highlights CBSUA’s ongoing dedication to environmental responsibility and management in higher education.
