CBSUA-TCPD ADVANCES AGRI INNOVATION THROUGH HARVEST 2026 TRAINING

The Technology Commercialization and Promotion Division (TCPD) of the Central Bicol State University of Agriculture (CBSUA) conducted HARVEST 2026: Harnessing Agricultural Research on Vegetable and Sweetcorn Technologies, a free training designed to promote improved crop production technologies among farmers, students, and agricultural stakeholders, on March 5, 2026, at the CBSUA Agriville and Learning Hub.

The activity served as a platform to promote improved vegetable and sweet corn production technologies while encouraging collaboration among the university, local producers, and the broader community.

Training sessions focused on corn production management and sustainable farming technologies. Among the resource speakers were Engr. Dulce Maria Abigail Jastio, who demonstrated agrivoltaic farming technology; Dr. Gladys G. Rosales, Director of the University Business Affairs Office, who introduced the Fish and Pay project; and Dr. Lorena F. Hernandez, who discussed soil management fundamentals for crop production.

Additional lectures featured Marvin Barte of Allied Botanical Corporation, who discussed strategies for improving sweetcorn production and management practices, and Buster A. Ibarbia, proponent of the activity, who presented field-based approaches to sweetcorn cultivation and management.

Sweetcorn stalk utilization for silage production was also presented by Ms. Carmille Portogal on behalf of Dr. Emma Jarcia, highlighting the potential of agricultural by-products as alternative livestock feed.

Also present during the activity was Vice Mayor Thomas Bongalonta of Pili, Camarines Sur, who expressed support for the university’s agricultural development programs and community-based learning initiatives.

Complementing the technical sessions, HARVEST 2026 also featured a booth trade fair showcasing agricultural products and local commodities, following a Fish and Pay activity in collaboration with the UBAO to support livelihood opportunities and community engagement. The event also promoted wellness and social interaction through a Zumba session led by Zumba na Oragon and concluded with an Acoustic Night organized by ELS Banjo and Ultimate Dream Production by CJ Rey, fostering camaraderie among participants, students, and community members while creating a lively agritourism atmosphere at CBSUA Agriville. | 𝘙𝘦𝘱𝘰𝘳𝘵 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘱𝘩𝘰𝘵𝘰𝘴 𝘧𝘳𝘰𝘮 𝘛𝘊𝘗𝘋
