Organic Agriculture Center leads tourists to farming

Central Bicol State University of Agriculture, as one of the agricultural universities in Bicol Region continues to promote organic farming through the Organic Agriculture Center (OAC), formerly known as Organic Agriculture Development Program (OADP).

The OAC started in 2007, envisioned to develop and showcase organic agriculture as an alternative to chemical-based agriculture systems. From a simple farm, OAC is now accredited by the Department of Tourism as an organic farming tourist destination in Bicol Region. This year, tourists from in and outside the region included visit to CBSUA-OAC in their itinerary.
Camarines Norte State College (CNSC), La Consolacion College of Baao, Lower Binogsacan National High School from Guinobatan Albay, and Panaan National High School from Camalig, Albay visited the OAC for their educational undertakings. Also, Farmer Cooperative members from Gumaca, Quezon had first-hand experience of CBSUA’s pride. OAC Director, Dr. Gilda S. De Asis led the orientation and tour to ensure that tourists were well guided about organic farming system.

CBSUA continues to promote and enhance organic agriculture, an alternative solution to rapidly changing farming practices, and for a healthier and greener environment.
