The CBSUA Regional Center for Indigenous Peoples (RCIP), under the leadership of Dr. Jesusa Bibe-Taumatorgo, officially commenced the program, SIRIP: Strengthening Indigenous’ Resources, Initiatives, and Potentials (SIRIP) on June 23, 2025, in partnership with the Local Government Units of Baao through Mayor Jeffrey S. Besinio, Iriga through Mayor Wilfredo Rex C. Oliva, and Goa through Mayor Alfredo P. Gonzaga III, in Camarines Sur. In carrying out RCIP’s mandate to recognize, protect, and promote IP’s rights and their culture, this event kicked off with IP Leaders’ self- awareness team building activity and cultural show.
The team-building workshop focused on identifying the qualities of a leader and the importance of being aware of one’s strengths and weaknesses so that one can effectively deliver his/her duties and responsibilities. IP Leaders, namely the Indigenous Peoples’ Mandatory Representatives (IPMRs), Chieftains, Elders, and IP Youth, participated in the said workshop. This pivotal event celebrated the indigenous songs, dances, tigsik, rituals, and vibrant traditional garb which mirrored the dynamic tapestry of the Agta Tabangnons’ culture.
Students from Indonesia, Malaysia, and Singapore, who visited the university as part of UP Hiraya’s Cultural Immersion Program, witnessed the lively presentations of the Agta Tabangnons’ cultural identity, heritage, and community collaboration.
