TOURISM STUDENTS LEARN PHOTOGRAPHY ESSENTIALS FROM BICOLANO INFLUENCER MARK KELVIN ALILIRAN

The Central Bicol State University of Agriculture(CBSUA)-College of Economics and Management (CEM), through the League of Tourism Students (LTS), hosted a photography talk entitled “The Art in Photography” featuring well-known Bicol street photographer and social media influencer Mark Kelvin Aliliran at the CBSUA Atrium, on December 4, 2025.

The event brought together all 3rd Year BS Tourism Management students as part of the college’s efforts to strengthen industry-driven learning experiences. The talk was facilitated by Dr. Rene Rabacal and Dr. Imari Meryl Roxas, who highlighted the importance of visual creativity in promoting destinations, cultural heritage, and authentic travel experiences.

During his session, Mark Kelvin shared his journey as a street photographer and the inspiration behind his work. He emphasized that photography should go beyond technical skills and trends, stating that the true impact of a photo lies in the passion and commitment of the photographer, highlighting the message: “A good photographer clicks with a heart,” encouraging students to capture moments that reflect real stories and emotions.

The discussion also covered practical insights on composition and basic rules such as framing and rule of thirds which may be useful in their photography subject. Students had the opportunity to engage with the speaker, gaining perspectives on how photography can support tourism marketing and community storytelling.

The activity forms part of the CEM’s continuing initiatives to broaden the competencies of tourism students through exposure to professionals in the creative field. | 𝘙𝘦𝘱𝘰𝘳𝘵 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘱𝘩𝘰𝘵𝘰𝘴 𝘧𝘳𝘰𝘮 𝘋𝘳. 𝘐𝘮𝘢𝘳𝘪 𝘔𝘦𝘳𝘺𝘭 𝘙𝘰𝘹𝘢𝘴; 𝘗𝘩𝘰𝘵𝘰𝘴 𝘧𝘳𝘰𝘮 𝘔𝘴. 𝘍𝘢𝘺𝘦 𝘝𝘪𝘭𝘭𝘦𝘻𝘢𝘳
