URC, CVM launch VetMed PRIME Program

The University Review Center in collaboration with the College of Veterinary Medicine (CVM) officially launched the first in-house review program for CVM graduating students and alumni on 14 May 2021 via Zoom conference.

The program entitled College of Veterinary Medicine Premier Review and Instruction for Mastery of the Veterinary Medicine Licensure Examination or CVM PRIMwas organized by the Head of the CVM Review Committee, Dr. Shiloh Grace B. Perdon, in cooperation with University Review Center led by the Director, Dr. Mark Jaypee C. Gonzales. Other members of the committee include Dr. Marianne B. Baldonado, Dr. Clarita P. Borela, and Dr. Marie Rachelle Jane C. Cornejo.

According to the College Dean, Dr. Ilene B. Mirabeles, to “prime” the students is to supply them with relevant information, hence preparing them for the upcoming Veterinary Licensure Examination. Additionally, this is also derived from the Bicol word “primero” which means first, as it is the first in-house review program from the college. The in-house review program is exclusive for CVM-CBSUA graduates and is free-of-charge.

The program was also supplemented by a PRIMER organized by Dr. Marie Rachelle Jane C. Cornejo where esteemed CVM alumni and seasoned Bicolano practitioners that shared their experiences to the clinicians of the College of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Karl Robert F. Ador (Top 3, 2019), Dr. Rachel Monique Ajero-Pasiona (Top 2, 2018), Dr. Mark Kevin I. Badiola (Top 10, 2015), Dr. Romeo A. Traqueña, Jr. (Top 7, 2008), Dr. Alex B. Templonuevo (OIC-Director of the National Meat Inspection Service), Dr. Keryl B. Perlas (Veterinarian at Regional Animal Disease Diagnostic Laboratory), Dr. Roxanne Abegaile P. Aquino (Veterinarian at Bureau of Animal Industry), and Dr. Francis R. Rasonable, Jr. (Companion Animal Practitioner and PVMA officer) were the speakers in the PRIMER.
University President, Dr. Alberto N. Naperi, said in his opening remarks that the review program is one of the ways to aid the student learning in response to the challenges of the pandemic.
