UNIVERSITI TEKNOLOGI MARA, MALAYSIA CONDUCTS AN ONLINE WORKSHOP ON IMAGE PROCESSING, ANALYSES FOR THE FRESHWATER LAKE STUDIES

On July 12, 2024, a collaborative workshop with the Universiti Teknologi Mara, Malaysia, and Central Bicol State University of Agriculture was held at the CBSUA-Farmers’ Training Hall, facilitated by the UiTM Team through a webinar setting.

The workshop focused on Image Processing and Analyses for Freshwater Lake Study. Before the workshop, a short update on the Strategic Research Partnership between the two universities was initiated highlighting the study’s area and the methodologies used to conduct the study—the Malaysian partners, in the expertise of Assoc. Prof. Sr. Dr. Siti Aekbal Sallleh, Gs. Dr. Nafisah Khalid, and Ms. Kamilia Kamaruzzaman, faculties of Universiti Teknologi Mara, Malaysia, have shared their knowledge in utilizing advanced image processing techniques to analyze the environmental condition of freshwater lakes using the ArcGIS Pro Tool. The workshop was participated in by the employees of the CBSUA Extension Services Division, Information, Communication, and Technology Office, faculty of CBSUA-Sipocot, and several on-the-job training students of CBSUA.

The workshop included training sessions and knowledge-sharing activities enabling the project team to gain valuable insights into innovative methodologies for environmental assessment. Through this collaborative workshop, the team further strengthened their capabilities in utilizing geospatial technology tools to enhance the accuracy and depth of the study’s findings.

Prof. Vladimir R. Foronda, PhD, the Director of the Extension Services Division and Digital Agriculture and Innovation Center, initiated this workshop. The knowledge and skills shared between the CBSUA Team and Malaysian partners greatly enhanced the project’s approach and methodologies. This exchange paved the way for more comprehensive and insightful analyses of Lake Buhi and its watershed. | 𝘙𝘦𝘱𝘰𝘳𝘵 𝘧𝘳𝘰𝘮 𝘐𝘳𝘪𝘴𝘩 𝘓. 𝘙𝘶𝘣𝘪𝘢𝘯𝘦𝘴, 𝘚𝘤𝘪𝘦𝘯𝘤𝘦 𝘙𝘦𝘴𝘦𝘢𝘳𝘤𝘩 𝘈𝘪𝘥𝘦 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘗𝘩𝘰𝘵𝘰𝘴 𝘧𝘳𝘰𝘮 𝘍𝘳𝘰𝘺 𝘗.
