The Central Bicol State University of Agriculture (CBSUA) served as the regional host for the qualifying examinations of the Philippine Physics Olympiad (PPO 2026) and the Philippine Junior Physics Challenge (PJPC 2026), on January 24, 2026.
Organized nationally by the Samahang Pisika ng Pilipinas and the Samahang Pisika ng Visayas at Mindanao, these competitions aim to identify and nurture the countryโs most promising young physicists. Facilitated through the College of Development Education, the examination challenged participants from Region V with complex problems designed to test their aptitude for innovative thinking and analytical problem-solving. The local implementation was managed through the joint efforts of the Science Teachers Active Regents (STAR) and the CBSUA Robotics Club, with Dr. Rey-Mark G. Basagre presiding as the Head Invigilator and Prof. Vergel P. Mirana as proctor. By providing a venue for these competitions, CBSUA supported a nationwide initiative to showcase mathematical and scientific talent within the field of physics.
This collaboration underscores CBSUAโs commitment to academic excellence by supporting initiatives that develop the next generation of Filipino scientists and thinkers.
