CBSUA BSABE STUDENTS SHINE AT NATIONAL PABESTIGAN 2026

Students from the Bachelor of Science in Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering (BSABE) program of Central Bicol State University of Agriculture (CBSUA) demonstrated excellence and competitiveness at the recently concluded UP SAGES PABEStigan XII: The State Universities and Colleges National PABES Quiz Contest, held at the University of the Philippines Los Baños (UPLB), College, Laguna, on January 23–25, 2026. The national academic and skills competition gathered 23 State Universities and Colleges nationwide.

Anjo M. Lomenario, earned the prestigious PinakaAEStig Award after posting the highest score among the 120 participants in the Quiz Contest Written Round.

Likewise, Jastine T. Bugas emerged as Champion in the Agricultural Machine Parts Identification, showcasing technical knowledge and mastery of agricultural machinery.

The CBSUA Quiz Contest Team, composed of Anjo M. Lomenario, Janna Mouren B. De Leon, and Alvin Lance B. Rota, secured 15th place out of 40 competing teams.

CBSUA students also made their mark in other PABEStigan events. Edjay D. Botis placed 6th in the QGIS Challenge, while Jethro Emmanuel D. Emila likewise ranked 6th in the CAD Challenge, reflecting strong competencies in geospatial and design applications. Meanwhile, Christian Oliver Acero and Francis Tabarangao made it in the 13th spot in the Tractor Rodeo and 3-Point Hitching Challenge.

Behind these achievements were the dedicated guidance of the students’ coaches, the Society of Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering Students organization, and the faculty members and staffs of the Bachelor of Science in Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering Program, College of Engineering and Food Science. The Quiz Contest Team was mentored by Engr. Monica A. Filio, while participants in the other PABEStigan events were under the guidance of Engr. Lynet C. Alto.

The strong performance of CBSUA BSABE students at PABEStigan 2026 reflects the University’s continued commitment to academic excellence, skills development, and competitive readiness in the field of Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering.
