The Central Bicol State University of Agriculture- University Council for Research and Innovation (CBSUA-UCRI) members huddled on January 6, 2025, at the CND-Research Hall, to share updates of its respective units and discuss key matters.

Dr. Dariel A. Palmiano, VP for Research and Innovation and Chairman of the council, presided over the meeting, with all the unit heads as attendees. He reported the council’s accomplishments as of January 2026. In the presence of the different units within the cluster, he called for harmonization of unit activities. In addition, he encouraged the unit heads/researchers to work with other units within the cluster to further foster collaboration.

Ms. Eloisa Joicee Igno, Administrative Officer V of OVPRI, presented the council’s financial overview summary as of January 2026, which reviewed utilized and unutilized budget allocations for the year. She also provided a run-through of the newly-crafted laboratory services manual of the university. Ms. Marlene Ramos, Head of the Research Publication Office (RPO), presented the RPO Operations Manual and Standard Operating Procedures. Ending the series of presentations was Prof. Abegail Guinoo, Director of the Extension Services Division, with a report on the division’s extension programs and projects for community development.

Prof. Dick Harence Dela Vega, Research Coordinator of Sipocot Campus and unit head of Program Development and Ethics Review Unit (PDERU), introduced the newest innovation of the cluster: RIGS, which stands for Research Information and Governance System. This project aims to create an integrated information management system for the cluster for enhance research project monitoring and foster evidence-based decision-making practices. The web tool is still under development by the university’s information technology specialists.

The meeting underscored CBSUA’s continued commitment to strengthening its research functions, services, and innovation initiatives.
