In observance of Suicide Prevention Month, the Central Bicol State University of Agriculture (CBSUA) Office of Student Affairs and ServicesโGuidance and Counseling Unit (OSAS-GCU) led “Healing Through Colors: An Expressive Arts Activity,” an initiative highlighting the role of creative expression in mental health and recovery.
Held on September 30, 2026, at the university Student Center, the activity offered students a safe, supportive environment to process their thoughts, emotions, and personal experiences through art.
Resource person David Caballero Jr., also known as โMaestro BongCab,โ guided participants through structured expressive arts exercises designed to promote self-awareness and foster positive coping strategies.
The session emphasized how creative mediums can function as healthy channels for emotional release, self-reflection, interpersonal connection, and healing.
The activity was organized by the GCU in collaboration with Ms. Ana Vera Hugo, a faculty member from the College of Development Education (CDE) and the College of Arts and Sciences (CAS). The initiative aligns with the institutionโs ongoing efforts to advance mental health awareness, suicide prevention, and overall student well-being.
