Farmers from Minalabac, Camarines Sur participated in the 4th Coconut Nursery Training and Coconut Seedling Distribution held on October 8, 2026, at the CBSUA Agriville Learning Hub, as the Central Bicol State University of Agriculture (CBSUA) and the Philippine Coconut Authority (PCA) continued their collaboration to strengthen coconut farming through technical training and agricultural support.

Spearheaded by the Philippine Coconut Authority–Camarines Sur, the activity provided farmers with training on coconut nursery management and access to coconut seedlings intended to support their farming activities.

Dr. Jayson M. DaΓ±as, Director of the Technology Commercialization and Promotion Division (TCPD), welcomed the participating farmers and emphasized the university’s openness to the farming community. He reminded the participants that they have a space in CBSUA and encouraged them to view the university as a partner in their agricultural endeavors.

Dr. Dariel A. Palmiano, Vice President for Research and Innovation, also delivered a message highlighting the important role of farmers and agriculture in community and national development. He underscored the value of initiatives that provide farmers with knowledge, resources, and opportunities to improve their agricultural practices.

Meanwhile, Mr. John Villareal, Division Chief Officer of the Philippine Coconut Authority–Camarines Sur, discussed the diverse potentials and uses of coconut, emphasizing the crop’s value beyond its primary agricultural product and its opportunities for farmers and the wider agricultural sector.

The training was followed by a tour of the CBSUA Agriville, where the participants were introduced to the university’s agricultural facilities and initiatives. The activity culminated in the mass distribution of coconut seedlings to the participating farmers from Minalabac.

The activity forms part of the continuing partnership between CBSUA and PCA aimed at empowering farmers through capacity-building, technology sharing, and access to agricultural resources.

Through the joint initiative, the two institutions continue to promote farmer development and contribute to efforts to strengthen coconut production and agriculture in Camarines Sur.
